Last night I went downtown to enjoy the holiday spirit and look at the lights around the Mission Inn. It is one of my favorite Christmas traditions....it was very crowded, but it was very beautiful. Everyone was in the holiday spirit and ready for the wonderful time of year. I snapped some pictures as I walked around...

I was waiting to cross the street, when I noticed on the other side a woman holding a large cross that read "Are you ready?". My first thought was...really?! I then noticed some police officers trying to shut down the demonstration....So I crossed the street and noticed another person carrying an identical cross that read the same thing. I looked closer and a man was standing on a step stool, microphone in hand, preaching next to a sign that read...
This time my thought was REALLY!!?? Apparently they wanted to spread the message of LOVE {notice title of poster}, but in my opinion they were doing the exact opposite...they were spreading the message of HATE...To say the least I was very angry, it is the season of giving and love, and they think it is their right to demonstrate such an angry and judgemental message. Have they ever heard of being Christlike?
I wish I would have been more brave to stand up to the demonstrators, but I just took a picture and shook my head. How offensive not only to me, but to many other people. REALLY!!?? Who do you think you are??
I will end on a positive note...our tree is up and decorated and I am very excited for the Christmas season, centered around our Savior and his great example of LOVE...

i choose not to dwell on that guy, but am impressed that you already have presents underneath tree too:) still lighting mine, but we do feel resourceful for chopping down one in our front yard (well my dad did for me:)
Awesome. I'm always confused by people that want to spread a message of love in a hateful manner. Thanks for this reminder. And I'm really impressed with you having your tree already up, lit, and reminding us of the real meaning of this season. Thanks for sharing Dan with us over the weekend. I'm sending him back to you now. Love you.
I don't understand people like that. Don't they understand that when you preach against something it is not truth? It is trying to presuade you to what? Weird. We should definitely go to the Mission Inn with you guys!
Your tree looks great! I am glad it still works there! Also, I love the picture of you guys on the top! Did you have some pics done? I want to see more!
What LAME people! Ruining the CHRISTmas spirit! At least we have the right to ignore them. DT looks beautiful, I've never been down there. I'll have to go. Your tree is gorgeous! This is reminding me I'd better get shopping!!
You did the right thing..just walk away, you dont want to give these people the attention they so desperately want. they're lame! i think we're gonna have to go out there and visit the mission too. we missed last year, and i think riley would really enjoy it.love your tree, did you hit up black friday this year :)
Thank you for always keeping it real! Miss you Heather!
