Really!?

Dan always makes fun of me when I say "really!?" when commenting on something...but I feel this post deserves the title "Really!?".

Last night I went downtown to enjoy the holiday spirit and look at the lights around the Mission Inn. It is one of my favorite Christmas traditions....it was very crowded, but it was very beautiful. Everyone was in the holiday spirit and ready for the wonderful time of year. I snapped some pictures as I walked around...

I was waiting to cross the street, when I noticed on the other side a woman holding a large cross that read "Are you ready?". My first thought was...really?! I then noticed some police officers trying to shut down the demonstration....

So I crossed the street and noticed another person carrying an identical cross that read the same thing. I looked closer and a man was standing on a step stool, microphone in hand, preaching next to a sign that read...
This time my thought was REALLY!!?? Apparently they wanted to spread the message of LOVE {notice title of poster}, but in my opinion they were doing the exact opposite...they were spreading the message of HATE...

To say the least I was very angry, it is the season of giving and love, and they think it is their right to demonstrate such an angry and judgemental message. Have they ever heard of being Christlike?

I wish I would have been more brave to stand up to the demonstrators, but I just took a picture and shook my head. How offensive not only to me, but to many other people. REALLY!!?? Who do you think you are??

I will end on a positive note...our tree is up and decorated and I am very excited for the Christmas season, centered around our Savior and his great example of LOVE...

Random Goings On

So I guess we have just been too lazy to make a full post on here for quite some time- I guess you can blame Facebook and the ease and simplicity of being able to do everything quickly and easily from your phone or you can blame my laziness.

Either way here are some random pictures of what we have been up to lately.....well some pictures since the ones below took 3 failed upload attempts and a hour of time I'll never get back.

For those of you who don't know, I'm a pretty big BYU fan. Although they have been an extreme disappointment to me on several occasions this season, I will always Rise And Shout. Since I have been in Southern CA, I haven't been able to catch many games, but when they play close I am there. This season they played in Las Vegas and San Diego. In Las Vegas I was lucky enough to have the hook up to get sideline "press" passes. If anyone asks, I have a big public access show in Montana :)

This was Harvey Unga's first of three TD's and I had a pretty good seat for it. This was taken with the camera on my phone which doesn't handle motion the best but the effect turned out pretty cool.

That play above actually got me airtime on SportsCenter- I paused the clip at the right time so I could get a picture (I was pretty happy if you can't tell)- I guess that counts as 2.3 seconds of my 15 minutes of fame.

Me and my boy Cosmo! That sideline pass just looked good- I should have one for every game

Another shot of Cosmo with the flag.

The week after the UNLV game I had a pretty good football weekend. I was able to go to San Diego on Saturday to watch BYU play SDSU and then I got sweet tickets from work to see My Broncos beat the Chargers on Monday Night Football (above picture) in that same stadium.

Today Heather thought that I had had too much football and took me to Oak Glen fo the day right during BYU's rout of Wyoming. We went with a couple of friends and their kids to check out the apple orchards and check out all the "family fun". I got a lot of pictures but they wouldn't upload as mentioned earlier but this one is kind of an inside joke. I give Heather a hard time about the fact that she had a pony as a child- she thinks it is totally normal and I am of the belief that only spoiled kids get real ponies (normal girls get "My Little Ponies") anyway I couldn't pass up the photo op of her in front of the pony rides.

We have done a lot more but we don't really have pictures of it and none of it was really too exciting. Pretty much just a lot of work.

Heather is running a half marathon in San Diego next weekend so I'm sure there will be more pics and an update or two with family being in town.

Fun by Myself

Not that anyone really cares, but since there aren't too many incredibly exciting things that happen in my life that are blog worthy I figured this was something to talk about.

Any of you that know me, know that I love to golf (and any of you that knew my Dad know where I got this from), but I don't get out nearly as much as I would like to due to the ridiculous prices here in CA. With Heather out of town I was able to negotiate that since she got to spend money to go out of town on vacation, that I got to spend the same amount while I was here to do what I wanted to. One of those things turned out to be one of the greatest rounds of golf in recent memory (by recent I mean probably in the last 10 years).

I woke up this morning and had the great idea of going up to Corona to Eagle Glen golf club and see if I could just walk on being a single player. It worked as I was there no more than 10 minutes when they got me in with a threesome.

I had played this course about 4 months ago and loved it, but shot somewhere in the 90's :( . I was a little nervous about how I would do but figured that if it got real bad I would just stop keeping score and enjoy the fact that I was actually able to be out there golfing.

It turned out that I really wanted to keep score since I started out so well. The first 4 holes were amazing, going par, birdie, birdie, birdie. The last birdie was on a par 3 where I dropped my tee shot to within a foot! As it was rolling closer and closer everyone was screaming trying to get it to fall but it didn't :( I'm still waiting for my first hole in one. With that start I finished the front 9 with a 2 under 34 thanks to a bogey on 6.

Here is the view from the 4th tee- it goes over the ravine in front of the tee box and the flag was in the lower left corner. The shot sailed over by the cart path but then rolled down the hill to within a foot!

The back 9 was good but I think I was getting a little tired and HOT (playing in the early afternoon is not good in the summertime here). I bogeyed 3 holes and pared the rest. The killer was that I bogeyed 18 by 3 putting! So frustrating but so amazing at the same time.

Can't wait to get out there again!

The Last 3 Months...

Life just seems to fly by, so here are a few pics from the last 3 months....

Maren (Dan's sister) and I ran the Salt Lake City Half Marathon in April. It was really fun, thanks everyone for all of your support!
"Practicing" at 5:30am...
The Start line
My really cool medal
Thanks Maren!!

My brother came to visit in May, and we had a lot of fun hanging out by pool & training for our 10K...by "training" we mean running for 2 days...thanks Jason for visiting!

Watching some sports...
Did I mention my brother was supposed to be recovering from a shoulder injury..running is good for that right?? This is our godmother Gina who also had an arm injury...

Memorial Day 10K fun run @ Storm Stadium
Almost to the finish line...thanks Jason for being a great motivator!

My Principal and another teacher took two of our students to Sea World. Elias (on the right) didn't even know what Sea World was...they had so much fun & so did we!!
Being silly... They both got these really cool necklaces. The Shamu show was based around these necklaces & their meaning...."If you believe in something, you can do it". We thought this was a perfect message for the two boys.

Last weekend we went down to San Onofre/Camp Pendleton. I participated in the "World Famous Camp Pendleton 10K Mud Run", it was a blast & I will definitely be doing it again. More pics from the actual race coming soon...

The kids LOVED Dan!!
